Foster 510, Walter Knoll

The Foster 510 takes the shape of a simple bench, further evolving a modern concept that Foster + Partners first developed for the Carré d’Art in Nîmes, the Sackler Galleries and the British Museum in London, and more recently for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The design was prompted by a desire to create a family of objects that followed a minimal aesthetic, gracefully expressing their structure through an elegant form. Visually, this structure appears transparent, employing laser cutting technology and thin sheets of steel to create a lightweight string frame. The upholstery components reference Walter Knoll’s rich history, while demonstrating the exceptional skill of their craftsmen and the range is available in a variety of different fabrics and colours.
